Hi there, I am Angie. Welcome to Upper Bucks Counseling. I am excited to meet you. I want to share a little about myself and my approach to therapy. I am the mother of a 15 year old son and the wife of a man who obsessively reads and hikes. I have a dog named Barbara Ann who I love to walk (or should I say chase). My favorite things are hiking the woods at twilight, climbing mountains, taking pictures and baking cakes.
Every human on the earth experiences harm. It is unavoidable and I have not gotten away without having my own trauma and scars. Just like most people, I tried to manage it alone while hiding my authentic self. It didn't work. It turns out I needed to face one of my deepest fears. I needed to be seen. I needed connection with safe people, a witness to my pain and support. I have witnessed the beauty of healing and restoration. I believe healing occurs in the context of relationship. It is an honor and a privilege to partner with you as you engage your story and safely move towards healing and freedom.
Having traveled the road to healing myself, I deeply value the therapeutic relationship. It is an honor to work with others on their journey of becoming more fully and freely themselves. I engage clients with integrity, compassion and curiosity. I take a down to earth approach that includes humor and connection. Human beings have a deep desire to be known. What a privilege it is to be a witness as you begin looking at your life and experiences from a different perspective and find the beauty embedded in your story.
I value and respect people from all backgrounds and belief systems. I provide faith informed counseling upon request. I incorporate clinical experience and education while pulling from different modalities depending on your specific need.
Education and Experience
I am a graduate of Bucks County Community College with an Associate of Arts degree in Psychology. I attended Alvernia University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Behavioral Health Addictive Studies. I attended Biblical Theological Seminary (now Missio Seminary) and graduated with a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling in 2016. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Pennsylvania and I am a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC). I am currently candidate in training to become a Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist (CSAT-Candidate) and a Certified Partner Trauma Therapist (CPTT-Candidate) through the International Institute for Trauma & Addiction Professionals.
I started my career as a therapist and later a clinical supervisor in a non-profit community behavioral health organization and continued my focus at a second behavioral health organization working with men at the inpatient level of care. Additionally I enjoy supervising LPC candidates so that they can reach their professional goals to help others.
